I know the options for a TTL flash are limited; however, I have 2 external flash units that I am wondering if I can use with my new Panasonic DMC FZ50 and if they will still work independantly while attached to the "hot shoe?"

I do not what to do anything to ruin the electronics of either the camera or the flash attachments.

1) Minolta Auto 28
2) Sunpak electronic bounce with digital slave.

I admit I know next-to-nothing about all this and welcome experienced advice.

Thanks,

jb

You need to bewary of these old flashes. Some have high trigger voltage that may damage your digital camera. I read that the t.v. for the fz50 is 6 volts. Here's a link for most flashes t.v.

I have two old flashes from my Om1 days: Hanimex tx2500 and sunpak 121C. After reading about t.v. 's I decided to retire them.

Thanks Allen!

Very useful site and it looks like my Minolta ranges from 43-200V so it goes back to the attic. Sincerely appreciate your help.

Hello JB,

I own a FZ-20, so the same flash that I use with my FZ-20, I can recommned you very heart fully. It's a Sunpak 383, which you can acquire it NEW circa $: 70-80. Has ONLY central shoe contact + 3 auto settings...trigger voltage near 8 volts...which is 100% safely with your newer Panasonic model.

Good Luck,

Peace,
