I'm thinking of getting the Canon 430ex for my Rebel xti. I noticed the stats on the flash say its range is up to 105mm. Does that mean I cannot use it successfully withmy zoom lens (28-135 IS)?

Thanks!!!

If you check the specs on most dedicated flash units, be they Nikon, Canon, Olympus....anyone, few (if any)have a tele setting beyond 105mm. It's no big deal to use a zoom to 200 or even 300mm with the flash setting at 105mm...it works, as long as you are within the distancerange covered by the flash since the angle of view covered by those longer focal lengths is more narrow than the view at 105mm.

If one needs more distance... say, to shoot birds from further away than the flash can carry, at that point you buy an accessory like the onecalled The Better Beamer to extend the flash range.
