Hi, i bought an eos 350d and looking around my house, i found my dad's old flash, a National pe-280c, i tried it and it worked, the only thing is that photos looked really overexposed, but the thing is, is it ok to use my cam with that old flash? and if its ok, how can i get better results?
Thank you all.

You need to check the trigger voltage if you don't want to damage your camera. Some of the National flash models have user reported trigger voltages as high as 270 volts.

Trigger Voltage Limits with Modern Digital Cameras

As for exposure, it's probably a manual flash. So, you'd need to shoot in manual exposure mode and adjust your ISO speed and aperture to match the distances shown on the flash scale for a given camera setting combination. But, I'd make sure it's safe by measuring it's trigger voltage first unless you want to fry your camera.
