Oh I almost forgot..

NHL.. is it true that the Sigma 500 DG Super cannot be locked at a 45 degree angle?

Yes its' true - But this is no different than a 550EX!
... and why would you want to do such a thing?

-> You can swing through the 45 degree, but if you were to stop the flash at this angle don't you risk of having the fringe of the direct flash beam to hit your subject(s) top half while the bottom 1/2 is only illuminated by a lower bounced and reflected beam?

yeah...you're right there...

then again, that's why you're the pro and I'm the newbie.

got lots to learn about flash photography.

maybe when I get my flash unit (coming soon) it'll be easier to learn instead of having to think or imagine. can just shoot...

hahaha...
