Updating this post incase anyone is following. I did get the 530 DG Super but it was not working properly with my T1i because I had received a flash that did not have the updated firmware.

The fix was to ship it to sigma and they would update it for me. Instead I chose to return the flash back to Amazon and buy a Metz 48 Af-1. I don’t have to worry if the firm wear changes with this flash because it can be updated via usb.

Doh! - Thread update notification was flagged as spam!

I'm very happy with the numerous inputs received here. I've tried the Metz in the store and was quite happy with it.

At this point, (I think) I will go with that.

elo: Did you get the Metz? If so, what's the verdict?

Do keep us informed of what you think of the accuracy and such. Did you ever repeat your battery charger test with the flash?

That figures as all new Canon's seem to have broken all semi new 3rd party flash firmware.

I still recommend setting the Camera to Manual and letting the Flash auto exposure handle the rest. Gives creative control and perfect exposure if the flash works as it should.

Auto-Auto is nice but then the Camera may make decisions you do not like.

The image you tried to upload what was it how it did it look?
