Default How About the New Pentax KX Camera??

Looking for an excellent/powerful flash to mount on the brand new Pentax KX DSLR camera. Is it P-TTL technology or something else? I am really not sure.

Perhaps, NHL, our resident flash expert can help out here.

Ideally, I would like to find a powerful and software upgradable Metz Flash for this project. That would be just about the ultimate, high power solution.

All suggestions appreciated. This project should be a lot of fun. We promise updating reports as we move along with this search for the ideal flash.

Thanks in advance for your expert, Pentax, flash help.

Have a great weekend.

Default How About a Flash that will Work with the New Pentax KX Camera?

Well, thus far I have determined that the new KX camera, just like the previous Km camera uses P-TTL flash synchronization, thanks to the Pentax USA website.

Have a great weekend.

More research: it appears that the Metz 48 or Metz 58 models might work. However, there are numerous comments about the complicated and very confusing Metz interface. I am becoming doubtful about Metz Flashes.

I bit the bullet and purchased the Metz36-AF4 flash. I will follow-up with some photos and comments.

Congrats on the Pentax; they make some good cameras and sometimes they are overlooked because of Nikon and Canon. Looking forward in seeing some of your shots.

Default Flash

I am a newbie to DSLR's and I just recently purchased a K-x. Still trying to figure things out and am debating if I need a flash. Seems like you have some experience, what flash did you end up getting?

Same here, as with Armando... Looking at purchasing a new camera, Pentax is surely one of three that I am considering... Hope to hear more of how you are getting along with your Pentax and "new flash".

All the best.

Default An External Flash for the Pentax Kx

Zuken & EEtu-

Initially I purchased the Metz-36. I found it a very dependable flash, but not really strong enough for good bounce flash. Therefore, I exchanged it for a Metz-48 which has worked out well.

Here is a sample bounce flash photo.
