Default External Flash For Nikon D50!

Would I be able to use the Nissin Di622 on my Nikon wireless? I really don't know anything about flashes and all I know is that I need to use one wireless.

As a slave? So I need 2 flashes, one mounted on hotshoe and one wireless? Is there any way I can use 1 flash set up on a tripod like 8 feet away from me?

the off camera flash fires whenever it senses another flash fire, thats what a slave does

Really?

Whats this...

Flash: Built-in, i-TTL, GN 15/49 (m/ft @ ISO 200; 11/36 @ ISO 100), same as D70s. Same numerous and excellent sync modes as D70 and D70s. (Note to Nikon: typo has "TTL" spelt as "TLL" on page 99 of manual, last paragraph.) No ability to use built-in flash as commander for remote control of other flashes.

I'm a little out of my league on this but a slave flash will work with ANY camera. It simply goes off when it senses another flash. That's it. No smarts. I bought a couple of cheap slave flashes with let's just say, varying degrees of success. i.e.: sometimes they worked. sometimes they didn't.

Ok So if I go out and buy an external flash like the Nissin di266 and pop up my pop-up flash and press the shutter down it will work? Also then whats the point of sayy the cactus v2s external flash transmitter and receiver etc?

Exactly, all you need is that nissin and your pop-up flash and you'll be cooking with fire

and TTL is being able to control the flash via the camera, and having it be able to sense control changes, and nikon has the ability to do this with no wires via infared with CLS or creative lighting system, but that's a whole other ball game...

but the RF transmitters are for longer distances, or more complicated shooting endeavors.
