Default What flash? Di622, Di866 or SB-600?

I want to buy a new flash, and I'm looking in to theese 3 that fit my budget a bit better then the SB-900.

What I do wanna know, does the Di622 work wireless the same way with my D90 as the Di866 and the SB-600 does?

What are your thoughts? And what would you recomend for me?

Kind regards, István

Yeh I just heard great things about the SB600, but for a litle bit more I could buy a Di866 which i think is a better flash? And for alomst half the price I can buy a Di622. If the Di622 works as good as a sb600 it seems like a great option to me!

And how about the metz flashes? Don't really know which model to look at here, what I want is for the flash to be compatible with the wireless system from the d90 and quite easy to use. Since I'm new with flashes, but the other hand, I'm fast to learn and quite technical. So if the Di622 is almost similar to the sb600 but a litle easier to use, then I would rather learn the functions a bit better and save the money.

Then go for the Di866 then...
It's actually more powerful than the SB-900
-> and also more flexible with its dual-head: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fl...d90-d5000.html

I'm speaking from actual experience: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fl...sh-fetish.html
as I have both the SB-900 and the Metz 58AF-1 already
-> They all worked wirelessly together very well, if anything get the Nissin high voltage pack as well. It can support two flashes at once (at a lower cost than competing devices) and make the heads recycle much faster!

BTW it looks like we've been in Sydney @ about the same time... and on the same boat too (... and I'm also quite technical)!!!

Sounds good NHL, but do you know if the Di622 works wireless aswell?
Cause I thougt maybee of buying 2 flashes, so maybe a Di866 and a Di622?
But thought of maybe starting of with the Di622 just to learn and play around abit =)

Haha, nice shots NHL, but I wasn't on a boat though, was from the park besides =) And nice shots from Cairns, I lived there for almost 5 months!

The Di622 does not work with CLS, works as a slave. The Di622II does work with CLS (channel A only). It does however, cost more. I would just go for the Di866. I posted about it and NHL checked it out and well what he has written and shared is what I would recommend. It does cost more but you get much, much more and you will eventually want it anyway after you find the limitations you get with the Di622. The Di622II the current model that is sold is better but I would still go with the Di866.

If you want HSS (high speed sync) go with the SB900.

I agree
Go with the DI-866...

You can always use more power, especially when bouncing
It also more flexible when using with other light modifiers, such as portable softboxes or reflectors

Okey. Thanks guys. But isnt it true that the sb600 only sorks as ŕ slave to? But you can still use it wireless with the d90? But the di866 sounds like a Hood choice for me!

Edit, hate this auto correction on iPad, its set to swedish and misspells every second Word in english..

The original DI622 only works as an optical slave, not a true wireless in the CLS system. The DI622 II fixes this but is limited to only one channel...

the Metz 48AF-1 is truly better in this regards (ie fully compatible CLS wireless) if you really want a smaller unit.
