It works the auot exposure and the TTL metering. each brand of auotfocus requires a different module. You can get a manual for the manual focus cameras.

Does the Ritz/combo unit pre-flash on Canon's Digital though?
A lot of 3rd party units out there set the shutter speed correctly and says it's E-TTL compatible but only works on Canon "film" camera and not their digitals which requires the pre-flash before the main blast!

As far as I'm aware, only two units: the Metz (54MZ-4) unit and the Sigma (500DG Super) unit have been verified to pre-flash and work with Canon digital cameras. The Sigma unit also works in the wireless E-TTL mode... both as master and slaves.

I still love my G5 and I bought the 220EX. Can anyone speak on why the 220EX's auto focus assist beam emitter might not be firing? Does that function not work with my camera?

I plan on using the flash for indoor sports photography where I am about 20 to 35 feet from the subject. The G5 manual says when a Speedlight flash is in use, the camera's maximum shutter speed is 1/250 second. I am finding that to set the camera for that speed, I have to go into TV mode and set it manually. Sound right?
