Default Third-party hotshoe flash for Canon 600D

I have been researching this for a while as I want to take photos of the audience at small gigs locally. I can't afford a Canon Speedlite and I am a total newbie to flash photography.

Seems like the Yongnuo flashes are good value for money but then I have also read about reliability issues.

Has anyone used any of their products?

I understand TTL is very important, so I am looking at the Yongnuo YN-468II, which I can get for around 70.

Any advice/alternatives appreciated.

Thanks.

The Nissin is quite a bit more expensive at around 110 but I guess as usual it is a case of you get what you pay for...

G'day Jim

I have 3x Yongnuo flashes & never had any performance or reliability issues with 'em

Regards, Phil

My friend has a Yongnuo flash and it's really not bad for around 40. It has fairly good recycle time, the build quality is ok (buttons are a bit odd though) and good power.
I would happily have one as a second flash, to go along with my 430
