Default Canon TTL flash

I have a Canon G5 camera. Using a flash bracket mounted with a 550EX flash (bounce) can I either; use the built in flash and fire the 550EX via it's wireless built-in slave and/or use a 220EX in the camera hotshoe and fire the 550EX in the same manner? Does this keep everything TTL flash metering? Would I have to use a shoe cord 2?

thanks, Craig

The good new is you don't need the Off-camera Shoe Cord II, the camera will flash in E-TTL wirelessly: This cord is for older EZ flash and will convert all newer EX series flashes to older A-TTL for Canon's film cameras only. The bad new is that only the 550EX can be mounted on the camera since this flash is the only one that can act as a master in the EX series, all others are slaves only!

If you need more power for bouncing, you might want to check with other affordable alternative: http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/v...388&highlight=

OK, thanks. Let me try to fully understand. Can the 420EX be used as a 'master'? If I use the 550EX on the camera's hotshoe then the 220EX will fire if on the bracket? All of this will be E-TTL? I was trying to find a way to use the 550EX off of the camera hotshoe (it's just seems too heavy for regular use on the shoe) and have both bounce and fill lights.

NO! The only one that can be fire as master, beside the Sigma 500DG Super (same price as the 420EX) posted in the previous link, is the 550EX. ie the 420EX is a slave only!

Yes, Either the 550EX or the Sigma can acts as master and all slaves will be metered correctly and controlled wirelessly through E-TTL, including another 550EX(or Sigma) slaves. BTW the camera built-in flash can act as a master as well on some cameras... (check your manual)! :P
