I need to take pictures of moving people in big rooms where there is not enough light - duh ....

I can not spend rediculous money for FL-50 like flashes ... is there a good cheap alternative ?

I am totaly new to this and have no idea what flash would work on my Olympus 8080

There are a lot of generic flash. They are not dedicated , so you must use in manual mode or auto mode, no ttl.

be sure that the trigger voltage does not exceeds your camera's specifications.
check the flash trigger voltage here:

Hi
Just bought a PROMASTER 5750DX, you asked for inexpensive. Offers TTL w/ OM module.

A lot of folks at dpreview forums have suggested it as well.

Olympus now has a less expensive FL-36 flash, you might want to check it out. It goes for $180-200 currently.
