I have a Dimage Z3 that I would like to add an external flash to. Any suggestions for which model would be appropriate? The Quantarays seem to be cheaper than the Minolta's.

I had the same basic question but more specific to the Quantaray QAF-6600 compatibility with the KM A200 camera. The only place I found selling it was Photoalley.com (I think they're part of Ritz Camera). I asked their customer service about compatibility and they said it won't work with the Minolta A200. I asked them about the QAF-6600 Nikon version working with the coolpix 8700 and they said that would work.

Seems that this flash serie is "standard TTL" capable only, allowing to adapt it to standard TTL of several brand of camera, but not adaptable to "evoluated TTL" (xTTL or whatever) . The 8700 can "handle" old TTL protocole (the film camera time TTL standard flashes SB-28, 26 etc.. ), that's why that flash can not be "fitted" to digital TTL standard. Well that's my deduction, I can be wrong.
