Hey all - I have Rebel XT and just bought my first flash unit(Canon 420ex) b/c I have been asked to shoot a wedding next month. 2 questions:

1) The manual doesn't give a lot of detail on how the unit works with the camera. For example, depending on whether I choose mode P, Tv, or Av, the flash acts completely different. The user manual touches on this, but doesn't really explain it. Is there a good reference on how to operate the manual settings of the camera to get the most out of the flash? (A website, a thread etc...)

2) The manual also states that NiMH batteries give fewer fires and longer recycle times than alkalines. What are the best batteries for the 420ex?

Thanks for your help.
