It's a flash handle with a "digital ready" slave cell integrated into it, allowing you to use any "normal" or "ordinary" non-dedicated flash with a digital camera (or a film camera) not equipped with a hotshoe.

Sunpak also make this kind of handle (or "adapter"):

(of course, nothing TTL here, just manual mode, or "auto" mode )

BTW, they look strangely alike :blah::G

I am planning on adding a Canon 580EX or 550EX to my 420EX/Digital Rebel setup so that I can get more creative with wireless slave flash. I am thinkg of also getting one of the Sunpak Digital Camera Flash Adapters to mount an old Vivitar 2800 that I have so that I can use the Vivitar as a third flash. I know that I wont have E-TTL on the Vivitar, I will have to set it manually. My question is - does anyone know ifthe Sunpak adapter will work with the Canon E-TTL and master/slave preflashes?
