First, let me say that I too have a Sunpak 383 but DON'T need a manual (don't have one but I do own other Sunpak flashes and the controls are very similar and easy to figure out). My point is that in a time whenTTL, dedicated flash units are all the rage there are 5 pages (count 'em...5) of requests for the manual to an analog controlled, non-TTL, non-dedicated unit that is by today's standard of electronic wizardry, dated. I do have a dedicated flash unit for my DSLR as well. In 90% of situations my 383 outperforms it. Powerful, decent recycle times, bounce/swivel head...what's not to like? The Sunpak also gives me the option of an external battery pack and the use of a standard PC cord (rather than an expensive off-camera cable),extras oftennot found on newer units.I recently saw a 383 go for over $60 on ebay...they're $79 NEW. How that little photosensor nails the exposure so perfectly is amazing. Wake up call to the manufactuters...5 pages of folks who will buy what works and and is the best value without the need for gadgets, bells and whistles. Plus I can switch to a differentcamera brandand get the same performance. The 383 is a classic that will be in style for a very long time.
