I just bought a "Sunpak auto 383 super" - used. The only problem is there is no manual of any kind. Went to Sunpak site but didn't see any where to download printed material.

Anyone have a link for an instruction sheet?

Going to be using it with a Pan. FZ20. Do I need a manual or is there a base setting that will get me going.

Sorry new to photostuff.

Thanks
Gary

cwodave,

I would love to receive the same message about this same manual you sent the_tango. I have just bought the same used flash (Actually mine is the same SunPak 383 Super flash with the Quantaray name) for my FZ20but didn't get the manual with it. Ihave been lookingfora manualas well. In the mean time Ihave been using recommendations on the settings to use with the FZ cameras fromPanasonic forum members onthis web site andhave had fairly good success with thisinfobut would still like the manual if I can find one.

The Sunpak is a pretty easy flash to use.

I use the manual setting for fill flash.

On Manual "M", 1/16 power is the equivalent of adding one stop of light to your image. At 1/8th power is two stops, and 1/4 power is three stops of light, etc. etc. etc.

You can use exposure compensation on your camera to cancel out each extra stop of light your adding with your fill flash.

For automatic flash setting "m", you set the ISO, the aperture your using, and it will determine the power of flash to use. Usually you can use F2.8 F5.6 or F8 as your aperture if you use aperture priority.

The flash also tells you what distance it will cover, given the ISO setting and the aperture. Take it with a grain of salt, as you will need to experiment a bit.

The flash also has a swivel so you can bounce the flash off a wall, ceiling or whatever.

That's pretty much the basics of the Sunpak 383.
