I have a DX 7590 too and the problem you are seeing is caused by reflection back to the sensor. The lens adaptor that that you use to hold the wide angle is causing the problem. The flash bounces off the adaptor. Using an external flash, like you have will solve the problem. Also I've found that using something like a 'post-it' maybe 1" X 1" stuck to the camera at the bottom of the internal flash (when open) prevents the flash from being bounced back to the senor off the adaptor.

Someone told me about this and I tried it and it worked. It just looks a little funny having that piece of paper under the internal flash. lol
