I use my S9000 mainly for outdoor pictures. When using flash with built in flash or external, I tend to get a 1 or 2 second delay before flash goes off. Does not matter manual, program, or auto settings. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way the S9000 works? I've had this camera a year and a half and takes great pictures otherwise.

The camera will wait until it is focused before it fires the flash. For indoor low light situations try setting your auto focus to continuous and see if that helps.

I'll try that...thank you.
