Hey guys. This is my first post in this forum, even though I've been lurking for awhile. I'd like to purchase the F20, because of it's amazing clarity at high ISO. I play/watch hockey and I'd like to be able to snap a few decent hockey pictures. Hockey is a tough sport to photograph, because of the low light and fast action. I'll need to crank the ISO to 800, and open the aperture as wide as possible.
The F20 has no aperture priority. The F30 does, but I'd rather not dish out an extra $120 for it. So my question to F20 owners is this: Will I be able to manually select ISO 800, a high F Stop, and fast shutter speed? If not, how does the camera determine the F stop that it uses? Exactly what does the F20 allow me to adjust in manual mode? Thanks Josh |

You can selectwhichever ISO you want to use. In low lighting and at the widest angle the camera will select its biggest F stop which is 2.8, but at full telephoto the biggest it can select is F5.
In manual mode you can set the following: Exposure Compensation Metering Method (multi, spot or average) White Balance High Speed Shooting Continuous Shooting AF Mode (centre, multi or continuous) I'm really not very good at explaining things, but hope this has helped a little. |

if you select a scene mode you have some aperture control ie, select landscape
on a bright day with no zoom the camera should select f8. the problem is the exposure is little too bright so normally you would set the exposure comp to -1/3 or even -2/3. the problem is you must be in manual mode to do this and lose the option to select the various scenes. for this reason i might be returning mine. |

after using the camera for a few days i find that i can live without
the varous scene modes. so it is a keeper and it takes great outdoor and low light photos. |
