Well managed to pickup a sony teleconverter for my HS10 this week and what a shock when it turned up much bigger and heavier than I expected its the VCL-HGD1758 1.7x but it ooozes quality.

Well we had a clear sky tonight and although the moons only just appearing again (waxing crescent ?) and very distant really pleased with the outcome, ive used photoshop to crop the image and convert to B&W etc

Hope you like the pic

LOL, I was feeling the same. It is incredibly large and heavy lens. But it really comes with great quality, I'm enjoying it. I get used to hold it, I feel my left arm are getting stronger... LOL.

I was just researching the HGD1758 with a view to attaching it to my HS10, and you've got me wondering if it's a good idea to attach such weight to its extended lens. Are you confident it will cause no problems with yours? The HS10's lens seems easily pushed back by very little pressure to me, so my other concern is that when it's fixed to a tripod, pointed upward at the moon, the weight of the HGD1758 might very be slowly, barely noticeably, retracting the zoom. Am I worrying about nothing here? I hope so. ;)

Fantastic pictures of the moon by the way!
