Has anyone used Fuji's 1.94x tele lens with their new E550? I am thinking of buying it and would like to know if it is worth the $125 investment. Thanks.

Oh well...I guess I'll just buy the thing and see for myself! Steve said the digital zoom on this camera is "worth using". I figure at 6mp 4x optical + 2x digital + 1.94x telephoto I should get some close shots about 15x or so. I'll report back once the camera arrives.

I didn't know the 550 would take adapters. Hummmmm.

One thing you'll notice is that you can't get 6Mp at full digital zoom. So sticking a 1.94x lens over your 4x x 1.4 will give you 10.86x at max resolusion. Using the 2x setting will bring your picture down to 3Mp! Still a good pic but just to bring your attention to it.

Equivalent to 32.5-130mm on a 35mm camera

6.3x (when set to lowest resolution, 640 x 480), 2.5x (1600 x 1200 pixels), 2.0x (2048 x 1536 pixels), 1.4x (2848 x 2136 pixels)

Thanks for the tip. I decided to go with the W5 instead after I found out the E550 has no auto focus assist light. Tried a Minolta without one of these and it was the pits. The E550 looks like a really good camera though, but I shoot in the house alot and it is not too bright inside. Can't afford another gamble.

I have an E550, and am pleasently surprized that when it says it won't focus, I take the picture, and it's perfectly in focus. It could use some assistance I guess, as it doesn't always get it right, but they take so long, at least the ones I have used do.

Hello All! First post.

The lack of an AF lamp was a concern for me too when buying this camera, but it's only been an issue on a few rare occasions. The manual also states in situations where AF does not work to: "take the picture at a distance of around 2 m (6.6 ft.) from the subject.". All my pictures in difficult AF conditions have turned out great remembering this.
