Finally got a good moon shot
Taken on holiday, finally worked out how to set the camera up for a moon shot. Tripod, manual mode, self-timer to avoid shake, spot metering, max zoom. Now, where can I find the cash for a TCON17....
Speaking of TCON-17, does anyone own one and could give me some HS10 in-use pics and what it's like to use? What adapter will in need for a 58mm lens?

Exif data if anyone fussed:

Nice shot! And thanks for your notes on achieving it. Did you, by chance, try the HS10's "Pro Low-Light" mode (p. 22 in the pdf manual)? I've been meaning to give this a go but haven't got around to it yet.

No, it slipped my mind. Had everything on manual. Tried auto but it was just a white blob, tried freehand but no luck. Def a tripod job!

Yes, a tripod will help a lot. Remember to turn off image stabilization when you use one. There are quite a few threads on moon shots on the forum. Browse through the Fujifilm forum or search for moon and you will find them here. Good luck.

I actually did the exact same thing as you last night, only difference was f5.6 and used ISO 100 then 200, bit of colour difference but that's all. Also tried pressing the button myself and got no detail so used self timer same as you.

Good captures. The moon shot definitely requires a tripod and spot metering.

Tripod, iso 100

a crop at 75 %

HS-10 with TCON. This is a 10% crop converted to B&W.

One from a few months ago:

And a more recent shot:

EDIT: First shot with HS10 at full-zoom on tripod. Second shot hand-held, braced on a park bench at twilight.
