Finally got a good moon shot
Taken on holiday, finally worked out how to set the camera up for a moon shot. Tripod, manual mode, self-timer to avoid shake, spot metering, max zoom. Now, where can I find the cash for a TCON17....
Speaking of TCON-17, does anyone own one and could give me some HS10 in-use pics and what it's like to use? What adapter will in need for a 58mm lens? http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...0/DSCF1281.jpg Exif data if anyone fussed: Main Information Make : FUJIFILM Model : FinePix HS10 HS11 Software : Digital Camera FinePix HS10 HS11 Ver1.02 DateTime : 2010:08:21 20:33:09 Sub Information ExposureTime : 1/50Sec FNumber : F7.1 ExposureProgram : Manual ISOSpeedRatings : 100 ExifVersion : 0220 DateTimeOriginal : 2010:08:21 20:33:09 CompressedBitsPerPixel : 40/10 (bit/pixel) ShutterSpeedValue : 1/49Sec ApertureValue : F7.2 BrightnessValue : EV3.7 ExposureBiasValue : EV0.0 MaxApertureValue : F2.8 MeteringMode : Spot LightSource : Unidentified Flash : Not fired(Compulsory) FocalLength : 126.00(mm) ExifImageWidth : 3648 ExifImageHeight : 2736 ExposureMode : Manual WhiteBalance : Auto SceneCaptureType : Standard Sharpness : Normal SubjectDistanceRange : Unknown Vendor Original Information Version : 0130 Quality mode : FINE Sharpness : NORMAL White Balance : Auto Color : NORMAL Image Adjustment : NORMAL Flash mode : Off Flash strength : 0/100 Macro mode : Off Focus mode : Auto Focus SlowSync : Off Mode : Manual Sequence Mode : Off Blurring warning : Yes Focus status : Nice Exposure status : Nice |
Hi:
Nice shot! And thanks for your notes on achieving it. Did you, by chance, try the HS10's "Pro Low-Light" mode (p. 22 in the pdf manual)? I've been meaning to give this a go but haven't got around to it yet. Craig |
No, it slipped my mind. Had everything on manual. Tried auto but it was just a white blob, tried freehand but no luck. Def a tripod job!

Yes, a tripod will help a lot. Remember to turn off image stabilization when you use one. There are quite a few threads on moon shots on the forum. Browse through the Fujifilm forum or search for moon and you will find them here. Good luck.

Good captures. The moon shot definitely requires a tripod and spot metering.

HS-10 with TCON. This is a 10% crop converted to B&W.
