Finepix 3000 & 3800

Can anyone tell me what is the diffrence between a finepix 3800 & 3000 ? Ans is the s5000 a much better camera than the 3000 & 3800 ? Thanks. P.C.

The biggest difference between the two are this, 1. the 3800 has movie sound the 3000 doesnt. 2. The 3000 has a slightly longer battery life. 3. The 3000 has more language formats. 4. The 3000 cost up to about $50 less. thats it, they are identical except for the above. The 3000 is the replacement model for the 3800.

I don't own either of the cameras but I went and looked at them today and liked the S5000 A LOT better than the 3800 or 3000. It was a little heavier and made it feel like there was some substance to the camera and that it wasn't just a toy. Also the 10x optical zoom vs the 6x optical zoom is nice. I also like the idea that you have some manual controls if you want to use them now or if you want to learn at a later date. Plus, a lot of the stores I'm looking at buying them from (all online) the S5000 is only like $20 more. Not bad for what you get.

Just my humble opinion, remember I don't own either camera.

If the S5000 is only $20 more than a 3800 I can almost guarantee you are looking at a factory refurbished camera. The normal difference in price is $100 or maybe a lillte more depending on where you look.

I agree will Allen on all points except price. I paid $277 for my 3800 and have seen an average price of $399 for the 3000. In my opinion, the 3800 rocks. I would much rather carry a 10 oz camera around Disney World that a 2 pound Mavica!

Nope, it isn't a factory referb and is from a very reputable seller.

I owned the 3800

and had it stolen. Was a great camera, and I have wrestled with what to replace it with. The 3000 has been marked down to $299 beginning this weekend at every store in Atl, includint Target. Again, I had great results with the 3800, and am seriously considering going after the 3000 tomorrow.
