Can anyone tell me the best settings for taking portraite pictures on manual settings indoors and outdoors??

Well that's kind of like asking... "what's your favorite F stop".....:-)

In most cases portrait pics are best shot at a very narrow depth of field to obscure the background. Use a low F stop, 2.8 etc.

Usually a medium telephoto of 80-100mm looks good on portrait shots.


Fill flash is helpful outdoors to help even out the shadow contrast caused by the single light source.... the sun.

Start reading some handbooks on this subject and take lots of practice pics... one of the advantages of digital photography... it cost nothing to try...:cool:
