Help! I have read lots of your posts and viewed lots of your photos and they are so amazing!!!! I want to take great pictures like ya'll. I am going to a Christmas banquet next week and want to take candid shots. The Fujifilm s800/5800 has lots of options but I am lost. If I stay with the presets of the different modes I am afraid that with the low light my pictures will not turn out....... Please help me know where to begin!!!!! Thanks...

There are only 3 things to set to take a picture. The shutter speed, the aperture size and the ISO which is how responsive your sensors are to the light. I would say first decide how much noise you want in your picture. Id suggest setting your ISO at 800. Now decide how sharp you want your pictures. Set your shutter speed to 1/125. Now set your aperture (fstop) to the largest number you can that will give an acceptable image. The largest number (smaller size) will give you a greater depth of field for shooting a room. If you are shooting individuals then you dont need a great depth of field. Just try shooting in your house with normal lights on to give you an idea what Ive just told you.
