To All,
Are there any "technically gifted" members out there who could comment on whether or not the addition off usb cable release capability could be provided for the HS10 via a firmware upgrade or would new physical circuitry be required? After shooting some distant fireworks shot last night, it really brought home the need for this feature. I doubt firmware upgrades could provide remote release capability but I think there are other Fujis (non-dslr) that have the usb release capability. |

The firmware would have to be written by Fujifilm first then a release built for the pin-out on the USB cable. I have been searching since April for such a release but even if I found one, who's to say the camera is capable of handling the release? My guess it's not. First step is to get Fujifilm to see the market/need for the device. I would bet that if they received enough requests, they'd surely make the firmware available. I'll start the ball rolling and shoot them an email making MY request and I'll do it tonight.

Yes, no cable release/remote release makes about as much sense on a camera with the HS10's capabilities as no threads for filters on the Sony HX1 or the Nikon P80, 90, 100 cameras!
Will be interesting to see if Fuji responds with more than a "canned" response. Good luck to us all! |
