I want to try a few long-exposure night shots including the skybut according to the manual, the S9100's bulb setting is limited to 30 seconds. I don't know why Fuji would design in a limitation like this unless it's to prevent sensor damage during long exposures in bright light, but it seems to me the target consumers of this kind of camera usually have a passing knowledge of photography and would avoid that in the first place, so I find this a bit annoying. Is anyone aware of a work-around or a firmware hack ?

Yeah that's a shame for this camera....how about multiple exposures. Page 71 of the S-9000 manual. Camera shake could be an issue.

Thanks, Bill. I thought about that, and it does seem possible. The S9100 has provision for a cable release, so that and my tripod might do the trick. It looks like a button on the body still has to be pushed to overlay the next shot, though.I'll give it a try and see if it works.:-)
