Default S-pixel & R-pixels...whats the diffrence?

I just saw a Fuji F700 for the first time. Once again, their 6.2 million (effective) pixel camera appears to be a 3.1 megapixel camera.

Is the S-pixel and the R-pixel some sort of interpolation?

Are they diffrent? How?

If they are diffrent, how come it uses the same amount of space to write a 6 megapixel file, as others are using to write a 3 megapixel file?

Just a word on the SR superccd (super dynamic range). With the SR ccd photo sensitive cells are paired. One input cell is low sensitive the other is high sensitive. Together they are combined and represent 1 pixel.

In theory this could mean an increase in bits per pixel in output, but it ain't. Actually the F700 creates intern 30 bit per pixel image data and writes a 24 bit file/photo to card (just like most cameras). Strangly the S5000 and S7000 both equiped with HR superccd (high resolution) create internal 36 bit data and write also a 24 bit file/photo. Maybe the 36 bits per pixel are used to create 2 pixel out of 1....???
