Default S5000 vs S7000

I am considering purchasing a new camera. I have had my current one, a finepix 40i for more three years, and I would like to upgrade to something with more SLR type features, but I really can't afford to spend a zillion dollars. Anyhow, the guy at my local camera store recommended S5000. Upon further research, I became aware of the S700. I enjoy photography as a hobby and am drawn to the instant gratification of digital. However, I am not particulary technology-minded, so ease of use is important to me. Should I pay more for the S700? Thanks!

Default ...depends on your needs !

8) Both are very interesting cameras having a good price/quality ratio. IF you like to have more resolution you should take S7000 IF you thinking of a wider zoom-range you might be more interested in S5000, wich is also a bit cheaper.

IF you usually do not print bigger than 10x15cm or 20x30cm at most AND IF you do not want to crop images so often the S5000 will fit your need from this point. But there are many other things to mention...

Although both cams did not get higher rates I recommend Phil Askeys reviews:

(on the first page you'll find a comparison of both modells)
-> http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms7000/

Good luck with your decision (I ordered a S7000 two hours ago)

If you want a smaller lighter camera, go for s5k.
If you want a bigger heavier but with some additional features (hotshoe being the most important, then 15sec imho) camera go for s7k.

The rest is pretty much the same, with some ups and cons for both.
