Beautiful SHot..Is this with the 9000 ?
I have heard nothing but negative things about the 9000 camera inculding some stuff from bhphotovideo that many of its customers have said they had quaility issues with it. I went with the 9100 and it does a veryu nice job. You might wnt to look at the 9100 which apparently is a much improved camera. Just on the 9100 DO NOT use auto mode as the pcitures are crappy and the A and P modes work a lot better for me.

I'm new too so I may be off base.
I have a S9000 and regret buying it.
The shudder button quickly broke and what's written on the buttons is wearing off. I get error messages when trying to view pictures. Fuji did fix the shutter button in two weeks.
I found I must set the camera to 'P'. then set sharpness to hard. + saturation and muli spot focus. This seems to get sharper pictures with a better chance of focusing on something it's pointed at.
Noise is very bad in any shadow. I now have a D-50 and love it.
Here is a typical dark picture set on 'N'. Useless for my web page

I've got my eyes on a new digital SLR. But I'm going to have to wait for a while. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to settle for the mediocre pictures I get with my Fuji s9000.

The S9000, like most current digital cameras, will take an ok picture in sun light. Your flowers provided many focus opportunities Like the attached

Yes, I agree. I have taken some low light photos that have turned out better than the one you posted. But, generally speaking, lowlight photography is somewhat of a challenge with cameras like the 9000. Most of my photography is daylight or flash photography, and I normally shoot at low ISO settings, ISO 400 and lower. So I get along quite well with the 9000. But there is no question that the digital SLR cameras are capable of producing much higher quality images. I'm just waiting for the day when I can order one.

Here is an example of the type of low light photography that I do. Again, the 9000 does a fair job of producing what I want. It will have to do until I can get a digital SLR.
