Got my new S5100 yesterday andwent to Office Max to pick up a 256 meg card. They've got a Lexar for $29.99 out the door with a $7.00 rebate on top of that. Not too shabby. Just thought I'd let you folks know. Who said XD is expensive?

That's a great price. I've been looking at a 512 card for $60 at buy.com. And I thought that was a good price.

Yeah, I know. I guess that's the price we have to pay when we make certain camera decisions. I went on vacation last week, and between my son-in-law and myself we had four digital cameras shooting almost constantly. At one point we had all cards full, and all the batteries in the charger, and we were frantically trying to get everything downloaded so we could get back to shooting. I sure hope somebody will eventually come out with a better price on xd cards.

You're right about the free time Queenie...must have taken me all of 10 minutes to make my last post. I promise to make this one quick...
Your original post: "Good for you.. Meanwhile we SD card users are paying $49 for 1 GB.." ...is not exactly true...ecost is selling the Lexar card for $74, not $49. Since Lexar says to allow 8 weeks to receive your rebate check, and the offer started 6/8/05, it's highly unlikely that you or any of your fellow SD card users have received their rebate check already, therefore you are not buying SD cards for $49. Maybe in August you can make that statement - IF you actually get a rebate check. I can buy a 1 GB xD card for $82 - who knows...by the time you get your rebate check, the price on the xD cards may be down to $48. the Hun |

I find the SD, XD and Memory Stick price differences to be totally blown out of proportion. You really dont save much money by going with SD. I see the same size cards going for the same prices all the time.
Compact Flash? That's a different story. |
