Default S1 too outdated?

Hi

I have been offered a used Fuji S1 at an extremely cheap price. My concerns are that the camera may be outdated. Still, at the price offered it could be a good intro into Digital SLR photography, rather then spending the money on a 4 or 5 Megapixel consumer DSC. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That's a tough question. The Fuji S1 is a fine camera capable of taking first class photos. It has a few minimal drawbacks that were corrected in the S-2 due to demand for TTL flash, VR focus support, and perhaps firewire (card reader is better!).

I sold my S-1 when I got the S-2, and my opinion is both are great.
