Default Is there "In Camera Formatting" for S2 Pro for CF?

I have a 256M card for my S2 Pro. I formatted it using the format command with my Sandisk USB 1.1 reader on my PC. After putting 100 small images on it I tried reading it ... very slow and computer keep "pausing" on me. One of my friends suggested trying to format it in my camera (they have no specific experience with S2). I have done this with my CoolPix 950, but I can't find such a function on my S2 Pro. Does this function exist in the S2 ... and if so, where/how? TIA.

Yes, turn camera on, press PLAY button, then press MENU/OK button. Use 4 way control to highlight FORMAT, press MENU/OK again, then select OK and press MENU/OK again.
Finished.

Just about everybody recomends NOT using your computer to format your CF cards. Always do it with your camera.

Default Thank you!

I expected some explanation in the "Loadin the Media" section. The only place I see anything about formatting is in a figure on page 28. Thanks!
