Default S2 with Studio lights, especially Hi-Key

I just got an S2. It works great with Ambient light, but no matter what I do it appears to overexpose with the studio lights. I'm a pro, I know what I'm doing. I meter at F=8.5. I tried everything from F=8 up to F=27 still get an overexposed picture. The lens is an AF Nikon 35-70 F=3.5-4 It appears that even though the ISO is set to 100, it is acting like 400 or faster. Any thoughts ? I'm trying a new lens tomorrow, but if that doesn't cut it , I'm returning it for a new body. Look forward to hearing form any other studio users.

Thanks for the tip. I found out the problem. My aperature wasn't closing down on the lens. I have (2) 35-70 Nikors, I just was lucky to grab the one that went bad first. ops:
