Just got the camera a couple days ago. It is fairly complex, so I expect it will take a bit to learn how to use it well. I know I won't be using all the features, but want to have a passing acquaintance with them, then I'll probably settle in to a pattern.
Love the EVF! Better than any optical VF I've used. I don't think I will use the LCD at all except for chimping. (interesting aside here: at least one review I read says the digital zoom doesn't show before you take the shot, but it only seems not to work if you use the LCD - it is there in the EVF) Picture quality is more than I expected from a 2/3" sensor. Very little noise until the ISO is over 800. The default setting for saturation and contrast seem a bit high for my tastes. I uploaded a few shots to my photobucket page here:http://s70.photobucket.com/user/Bord...?sort=3&page=1 if anyone is interested. brian P.S.: OK, I looked again and the digital zoom does show in the LCD as well as the EVF. At least it does now. Maybe it depends on the mode the camera is in. Last edited by VTphotog; Sep 19, 2013 at 12:50 PM. Reason: added PS |

G'day Brian
I have had my X-s1 for 18 months now - and there is much about the camera to recommend it ~ the EVF being one feature that outshines any optical SLR viewfinder I have mine defaulted to ISO=[auto-800] and in daily use it shows me its iso setting as it meanders its way up and down the scale ~ really beaut The manual zoom is great, the lens is quite sharp, exposure control is accurate so - enjoy your new 'friend' Regards, Phil

Thank you, Ronny. Coming from someone with the excellent photos in your gallery, that is praise, indeed.
