Default s602z ac adapter

Hello to all

Just bought a s602z after all the fantastic comments and user group support out here!

I have a whole bunch of AC adaptors and don't feel like splashing out for another. Specifically, I have a few 6V 0.5-1A generic types which I plugged with trepidation into my first digicam, Olympus 990Z. Thank God it worked as the manual - like all the rest, say "recommend to use only manufacturer's models."

Now at twice the price, the trepidation is higher - heh heh.
OK, most of these adaptors are just plain full wave rectifiers with a largish electrolytic capacitor after that. No voltage regulators and all that which generate a lot of heat.

Anyone taken apart the adapter?
Does it have a regulator?
Can a 6V "standard" adapter work?

Thanks in advance!

Hello to all

Sorry, tons of stuff at:
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1012

Do a search on "ac adapters" or "power supply".

Regards,
