Man, I can't believe this. My 602 isn't even 6 hours old and I read this. I can't decide on returning it and waiting or being satisfied with what I have. Is the ISO 1600 capability of the 602 really going away and is it necessary anyway? Is xD media better than Smart Media? In the comparison, the sensitivity of the 602 in auto mode is listed as unknown while the 7000 says ISO 160-800. Is this some feature improvement? Also, looks like the flash may be a bit more powerful. Some of you 602 veeterans please chime in, wait or not?

i don't understand why they didn't put a 10x or more zoom on the s7000 like they did on the s5000. as much as i like my s602z, the 6x zoom is just not enough for me. i'll probably wait another 2 or 3 years and get another camera. probably a dslr. at the rate the camera manufacturers are going we'll be up to about 50MP in a couple of years.

If you can return your S602 do it! xD comes in 512mb right now and will go up. SmartMedia only goes up to 128mb. I only use a MicroDrive, the S602 will support up to a 2GB Microdrive, I am hoping the S7000 will support up to the new 4GB Microdrives coming out. I have only used the 800ISO but wish I could of took those photos in 3 megapixel instead of 1. This camera will kick butt. I can not wait to shoot concerts this Fall/Winter with it.

Yes, I can return it. It was literally purchased just hours ago. Hopefully October will get here soon and the price will be $799 as rumored and not higher. I wish there was a 10X lens as well. I was told today to beware of the microdrives as they can "burn" up the circuitry in the 602. Maybe use lots of power and heat up? I have no idea, just what I was told by seemingly knowledgeable salesman.

more than 6x zoom is not much better than useless without a tripod. IMHO, with a 6x zoom and 3 megapixels you can crop a fair way as well ... that's a fair chuck of zoom.

You're probably right about the 6X being fine especially with more pixels available. More just seems better doesn't it Don't have to use the 10X if it's there, but can't use it if it's not.

if it was a 10x stablized zoom it wouldn't be too bad. i have used 600+ mm lenses on 35mm cameras and handheld in the past and was fine with them. depends on the shutter speeds too. don't get me wrong, i do like the 6x zoom on it. if it were any less i would never have bought the camera. Alfisti, you are correct that if ya get a nice clean 3mp pic then cropping and resizing should be fine. but, just think of a nice 6mp pic at 10x zoom then croped and resized!!!! in any case i'm keeping my s602z for a while. as i said before my next camera will be a dslr.

Well yes but the 10X make sthe camera too bulky ... not really a concern for 602 uses i guess, that thing is a truck .. my 3800 is too big IMHO.

i think my 602 is still a bit small but is one of the bigger ones around. i guess i'm too used to 35mm slr's.
