Yeah the colors are a bit less strong. I've been playing with the camera tonight and I've also rearranged the lighting in our current viewing area. I'll post up some pics later on after I play with the F settings a bit more. It seems like as I dig deeper this camera has more and more settings. Far more then my portable S9 and A*

The upgrade just takes a few moments. A fully charged set of batteries should be fine. That's how I did mine.
I recommend you read over the directions a few times, and then have them in front of you when you do it, with no distractions. A moments error could cause grief. However, if you are good at following directions, you should have no problem.

I think I've decided that the camera is much smarter than I am. I went to Universal Studios last night for Mardi Gras and took about 300 pictures. I used as many settings as I could find. It seems that the best luck was using the Natural/Flash settings and picking the best shots. In most low light situations the camera goes to ISO 1600. That's when it is left to the camera for the ISO settings. Otherwise I have it set for 400 (auto).

Is it part of digital photography that you touch-up or edit with software after taking pictures?

And Bynx...is it me or is there a difference shooting digital vs. film? Seems there are many shots that I would have set very differently for film.

Unfortunately there is still a difference between shooting film and digital. As digital technology gets cheaper and sensors get better the gap will lessen. But for now I prefer digital to film. The convenience of on the spot pics makes up for any discrepancies.
Also regarding the upgrade. I highly recommend the 1.0 to 1.01. Its a good one that fixes the problem when shooting with the 2 second timer. Going from 1.01 to 1.02 is a fix for PC people and the card. Not sure exactly what it was but I knew it wasnt for me since Im a mac guy.

I too prefer digital....I wouldn't be able to go out and shoot 10-15 rolls and have them processed to see what I liked or disliked. Just wasn't sure how different the settings appear.

and doesn't 1.02 also included 1.01?
