Are those lenses something similar to the Opteka's you find in eBay, or are they the actual Fuji lenses?

The add-on lenses to me really decrease the sharpness of the images. The cropped 10x, while noisier, is much sharper than the shot with the teleconverter lens added on.

Good group of shots to show the difference in add-on lenses vs cropping.

These lenses came from eBay being sold by a camera shop in NYC. A whole package of both lenses, a small gorilla like tripod, and 3 filters all cost $60 US. The single lens from Fuji cost $199 Cdn.

Hi Bynx-

I may have found the 2008 successor to the S-700. Its the Panasonic LZ-8, 8mp, IS. 5X optical zoom, a semi wide angle, full auto and manual controls, iA (intelligent Automatic, Intelligent Scene Modes, and all in all it is a fun camera. It costs $(US) 149.00 at www.buydig with free shipping. How is this for a sample photo?

I leave tomorrow moring for 90+ days. I ordered a LZ-8 and its supposed to catch up with me when I roar through Seattle.

Well, after yesterday's blizzard roared through like a freight train (over a foot overnight) ... the birds are out playing today. Caught this little robin out in the driveway.

And yes, I actually used "Auto" today, because I wasn't paying attention to what it was left on. Still came out alright. I was surpised by the colour in the breast. With all the snow around, I expected it to be more washed out.

Oh boy did I have fun this afternoon. The birds were just CRAZY over at the feeders when I took my daughter to visit mom this afternoon. Got a lot of nice shots, and this one is one of my favs I think.

He jumped off the branch JUST as I hit the shutter, so it wasn't planned by any means.

I put up a little gallery of some of my favourites of today on my server. Here's a link if you want to take a look. (Nothing fancy, just the auto-generated gallery from F-Spot, my photo management program.)

I just joined the forum. I have been using the S700 since last July

Qutb Minar Indai. I used the large format to show the level of detail captured by this great camera
