Default Adding a piece of glass to my 4900?

I have the vision optics 2x teleconverter and the adapter tube on my camera, and actually it's quite comfortable to hold like that but I dont want the teleconverter on it all the time, but I do want the adapter tube on there all the time since it fits my large paws better than without. But I'd like to get a filter, perhaps clear uv protection filter. (Primarily becuase it looks damn stupid having the adapter tube on it with the stock lens inside of it, plus I'd like to clean the stock lens glass once and have it be somewhat sealed in there with the use of a uv filter type piece of glass on the end)

My question is, how will having that extra piece of glass on the adapter tube degrade my photos?
Thanks

Remember, with an extending zoom lens, air must still get in there to equalise the pressure, so you may still have to clean it!
