what a great camera.. but however the ccd senor went bad, repair cost is 150.00 camera is in exellent condition otherwise.. fix or ditch ?? :shock:

Tough call...you like the camera, and it's only $150 to fix it. But after it's fixed, it's still a 4 year old camera design with 3 MP, a tiny LCD, a very limited ISO range, and the chance that something else will go wrong with it. For less than $100 more, you could pick up an S700, which improves on some of the weaknesses of the S5000, and would also give you a one year warranty. Like I said, tough call.

Fix it. That was my favorite camera. Everytime I look through my pictures, the best were taken with that camera.

yeah , i really like the s-5000 after 4 yrs i guess i cant say ery much about a sensor goin out..

thanks .. yeah it something to think about i really like the fuji s-700 i may go with it and just frame my s-5000 lol jimi

I had the s700 and The image quality plus faster lens on the s5000 is far superior.
