Good evening everyone.

First off let me just say hello - this is my first post, and I apologise if I missed this in another thread, but I couldnt find the answer I was looking for : /.

So I was lucky enough to get a nice shiny Finepix 6500fd for Christmas, and recently ive been playing around with some settings - namely Manual Focus.

The problem is, I had the camera doing something last night, that I just cant seem to replicate.

--

Basically, on the view finder I could see what the camera was aimed at, and whenever I used the manual focus ring, a sort of zoomed in window appeared over the top of the main view, and allowed me to focus in on the object I was aimed at.

Now however, I cant recall what setting allowed me to do that, and its driving me nuts!!! Ive checked forums, the manual - and just cant figure it out.

The focus now appears to just affect the whole picture dislayed on the viewfinder, as opposed to popping up this little window

If anyone can shed some light on this, I would very much appreciete it.

I just hope I made sense.

Thanks in advance

One of the buttons on the back of the camera toggles that display, but I don't remember which one it is. One of the buttons switches between the LCD and the EVF, and one of the other ones will provide the display you are looking for. I don't think it is possible to make that magnified display the default. It is something that you have to switch to whenever you want or need it. Maybe someone with more experience can provide you with more information. I haven't used the feature because I have not used manual focus hardly at all.

Kraykan,

Welcome to the forum.

The 'zoom-in window' you were referring to is called Focus Check. In order to get it to work, you have to be in Manual Focus, the EVF/LCD mode must be set to 30 FPS (default), and the Focus Check setting must be turned to ON (default). High speed shooting mode disables Focus Check. You can change the EVF/LCD mode and the Focus Check setting in the Set-Up menu.

Have fun with your new camera.

It was very frustrating not being able to find out how to get it back, I think Fuji need to make there instruction manuals a little bit more user friendly for us Novices

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question! :|

"...I think Fuji need to make there instruction manuals a little bit more user friendly for us Novices "

The camera comes with that feature enabled. Somebody had to change the default settings on your camera, and I don't think it was Fuji (LOL). In all fairness to Fuji, page 123 of the manual pretty much says it all.

You're welcome.
