yes, the Fuji's lens is sharper than my 70-300 lens (on my DSLR). My 18-55 lens is extremely sharp, but really sharp long zooms are expensive.

Oh and just for the record, neither were macros' they were both shot from about 10 feet away from the coin at full zoom. Here is what the Fuji's non cropped shot looks like.

Hey i just bought this camera as well, and i am really enjoying it it is one of the best fuji has put out, i used to own the S6500 and the S100fs is a lot better i also own a 450D and i also believe that the S100fs is sharper than my 70-300 IS NEW and also my 17-85 unless i am doing something wrong, it just surprised me, not that i am saying that the S100fs is a better camera it is not, but here are a few test shots between the two though 1st is 70-300 IS and fuji at full zoom

and the rest are from the 17-85, though the fuji doesn't perform at high iso levels like the 450D but it is good enough, also what is your in camera setting on your fuji for like landscape shots i like the provia set to color hard tone hard and sharpness hard, i also have the WB tuning set to red +3 and yellow at -3 i think those are good settings, click on images

Hi Hercules,

Thanks for sharing the pictures comparison
IMO, S100 consider very good already as P&S camera.

Hope to see more

Another week for me to get it...

After comparing your pictures, seem S100 results are better than 450D
Or perhaps my eyes are play tricks on me :-)

Well the S100 in camera settings were also set higher, but to compare both at the standard settings 450D is better here are 2 shots cropped notice the 450D sharpness and color is ahead, but not by much

1) I find it appalling that such a high-spec bridge camera doesn't display crucial settings such as aperture and shutter speed in the playback. I found my Canon S5IS great until it grew legs () and it displayed everything. It also took far better sound recordings than this baby.
