I have a MacBook with OS 10.4.11 and I just bought a Fuji FinePix J10. When I connect the camera to the Mac, The camera screen shows a "USB" indication but the computer doesn't see the camera. Is there a way not to install the FinePix viewer software? (I'd rather not install it unless I really have to)
Thanks.

I called Fuji and they said the only way was to buy a card reader... and take out the memory card from the camera to download your pics. I did that and it's OK, eventhough I would have prefered to download directly with the USB cable. The other thing that I think works is downloading from iPhoto. However I think it froze my computer a couple of times, so now I just use the card reader.

I installed Finepix software and have never had a problem downloading any pics. In fact its been pretty helpful so Im glad I did it. I can check my files before I take them to photoshop for improvements.
