Default some questions on improving s5000 image quality

1. is there any way to disable in-camera sharpening ?
2. is there any way to improve in-camera jpeg compression ?
3. is there any way to turn on manual white balance ? auto is bad , olympus images has much more correct colors . fuji misses even with flash indoor
4. is there any way to get longer shutter ? 2 sec is too fast sometimes.

i know that the camera is upgradable , you need only to put correct firmware on flash card and insert it in camera.

may be someone have firmware for s5000 ? and knows how to change it to skip sharpening etc... ? like siemens me45 mobiles (it is nearly completely reengeneered).

No. Unless you shoot in RAW mode. Read my post about writing Fuji for a firmware upgrade.

i use SOFT mode . and i don't like it . i want to completely disable in-camera sharpening . fuji sharpening procedure is awful . i can make much more good-viewing images in photoshop.

oly's sharpening algorithms gives more quality images at normal setting than fuji's at SOFT .

Absolutely true. My previous Olys had an image size of ~450KB for 2MP in Normal mode and gave smooth images without clearly visible 'compression artefact'. While S5000 gives ~850KB for a 3MP, which is lower in compression.

I guess it's the sharpening algorithms that count, not the compression level that many people claims. I've mentioned this many times but nobody wise enough to bother.
