You may like to check out the service manual of the S9000.

Take a look of this site which has loads of service manuals:

Just to add that the above site is a genuine supplier of service manuals.
I got one service manual for my S602 and have found it useful.

But one needs to donate Euro 1.49 (approximately $2.10) for each manual, before the supplier emails the URL to download the required manual. This is still cheaper than buying a service manual, if it is available, from eBay. Usual price there is around $6.00-$10.00.

I am not related to the site, except being a satisfied consumer.
Good luck!

Here is a tutorial with photos on how to repair the broken shaft underneath the command dial.

http://www.sdirkx.nl/DIY_repair_command_dial/

Looking at the photos, it seems that replacing the top cover mode dial assembly with a new one will cure your dial problem.

Good luck!

P.S. Here is the Chinese site which the above site mentioned, but its URL was lost at the time of writing the English tutorial.
