I bought one and there are a couple of other new owners just learning about this camera. Can I suggest you post this over on one of those threads? The HS10 isn't out yet so I think it's too early for comparisons except for the obvious major differences. The S200EXR is not a video cam though it does record video. Hope you join us. We could use some company

I guarantee video isnt going to be up to the task compared to a dedicated video camera. Most cameras cannot do video right yet.

So-called "entry-level" videocorders are definitely facing a tuff opposition from many of todays video-capable still cams.

Re. the Fuji HS-10 , everyone is speculating . . .

We hope for good IQ, and for video I'm certain it'll be 'sufficient' -
- the abundance of dedicated, manual controls surely is a great asset, and
the very wide zoom coverage will be just awesome as you have a manual control to work with..

The only thing I can't find in the specīs is an external (stereo) mic input.
But they might throw that in - Let's Hope! - until introduction in spring.

- I don't dare put my hopes up too high for the Fuji HS-10 -
this might very well be "a Marketing Departments design" -
but size and specifications are definitely tempting... - - -

I think I read somewhere that there will be NO mic input.... I guess I can live without it.....

But to me, worse than that..... no Remote Shutter Release ??

It's got a timer... that'll work.

That would work as a control for stills...

- but for filming I guess I could live without it.

Since they've got the HD platform for video - including STEREO mikes - it would definitely be
a frustrating letdown not to offer the versatility on AUDIO to match all other control and versatility.
A simple input connector is all it would take.

Shurely it would be an easy modification to connect an external audio source, but that's besides the point
(and of course would void any Guarantee).

Let's hope they focus on the forgotten issue of HQ Audio too, as
they otherwise mimic the dSLRs in all other aspects !

Iiiiiii am NOT speculating, Iiiiiii know it will be a good camera :-)

Similar to Canon SX1 - with some new features

SX1 ... remote included, but I never used :-)))
Some people think, an extern mic makes excellent movies - hahahaha.

Ooookay.... I hope you guys are right ! I am still excited about this camera, but with that lens hanging out there, I would love to not have to touch that release button while on a tripod and be able to fire at will.....
("which one is Will" ? nyuk, nyuk. nyuk.... )

Here are a couple shots actually shot with an HS 10....

If you a newspaper reporter then I could see someone taking that many pictures but how many serious newspaper photographers do we know that aren't using D-SLRs. I do use a D-SLR before that had the Fuji S-9100 and I took about 55,000 pictures with it over 18 months. AA batteries drove me nuts as I had to carry 3 spare sets. Now I use 1 D-SLR battery pack and for very very long and demanding days use a second one.
