...Finally, check one unhappy user at http://www.photographyblog.com/news/..._finepix_hs10/ (search the page for Jan to get the the right paragraph).
Update from Jan:
"I returned mine as it was found by the agents to be faulty. I will wait for the release in the USA to buy the next one as it is a lot less there."

It looks like Jan was happy enough with the HS10 to have another go, despite the first one being faulty.

More photos at http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/fujifilm_hs10&page=all (the first time I checked this link there were fewer pictures).

Best UK price I've seen is at http://www.ukdigital.co.uk/fuji-finepix-hs10-camera.htm - includes 2 year warranty (Amazon 377.80 - 10p less than last week - but the extra warranty will cost 10.99).

I'm now happy with the HS10's basic performance, viz a viz noise. There was a time when you had no control over the film speed once it was loaded -50 ASA for very bright conditions to 800 for deep gloom (indoors or at night) with the norm being 100-200 ASA. (I'm using the old terminology for those who like to reminisce!) Even with film you could see the grain at 400 ASA and above. I think we expect a bit too much nowadays, especially in view of the fact that the best night shots were usually acheived with long exposures rather than fast film.
The reports so far seem to confirm that the HS10 is acceptable up to ISO 1600 which, to me, is perfectly acceptable. I will be buying one .

daved-

Yes, I saw an image at ISO 1600 that was very impressive for a small imager super zoom, and that finally pushed the order button for me.

Default im new and the things i know about HS10

hey guys, new here
anyway here are the things that i know about HS10

im planning to buy it at Jessops since they got the finance thing. As in 6 months interest free, so for those who doesnt have enough bling bling(like me) all you got to pay is the thing below.

**DONT FORGET TO USE THE VOUCHER CODE TO GET THAT PRICE BELOW**

JESSOPS5 it removes 5% of what you pay or you can also use
SPRING20 20 OFF but i prefer the JESSOPS5 since it will give me more discount because i will also buy a camera bag

You have chosen the option: 6 Months Interest Free
Spread the amount over 6 monthly payments

Cash Price 379.05
Deposit (10.00% ) 37.91
Loan Amount 341.14
Monthly Installments (x 6) 5 months at 56.86 and a final payment of 56.84
Total Amount Payable 379.05

with the discount code jessops5 HS10 became 379.05, if you are buying the camera alone use SPRING20. Their warranty is kinda expensive though 59.99 for an additional 2years

pictures using HS10, not mine from Flickr

sorry about that....... anyway.... if you want more, all i did was typed in HS10 on the search bar

about the videos, there are not much on youtube but it does the job. they said you can also play with the focus ring while recording, but i still need confirmation about that

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the only feature that might fail a bit is the movement remover since if you are on a super crowded place which is probably the case then there is just too many things to remove ending to a messy picture. Did you get what i said?

and some people complain about the zoom when recording video, maybe because they just dont know how many times you got to rotate the ring to get to 720mm

i dont know what else to share.... im sure this is enough FOR NOW

I heard yes you can focus while recording but maybe it makes recordable noise? That would suck.

then im also planning to do a video about its features BUT! i dont have a good video cam...

The links that i gave kinda made me buy it, it's actually not that bad looking.

Amazon release at 12
some other website i think is 17
i think jessops is also 12 and it arrives to the shop by 14
I went to local jessops yesterday and preordered mine and they said they will be receiving 100 pieces of HS10 and they already have 39 orders xD so now im #40
but who ever gets there first becomes Hastings First and that would be me.... MUHAHAHAHA

they also said ive got to be 21 to do the finance thing..... so i guess i have to do it online and fake my age.

well my parents doesnt want me to buy the camera even though ill be the one paying.

DaveD - will you send me a screen protector from your gift pack (usually a pack of 5) - I'll send you back something. Other than the screen protector, card and batteries, I don't need all the stuff. I found the card and batteries, but not the screen protector! Weird. Anyway, if you send one, I'd be happy to send you a knit hat or something (you can tell me what color) lol!
