Default HS10 Terrible Image Quality?

Since getting my HS10 I have been busy or the weather has been bad so haven't had a great deal of opportunity to use it. I must admit that having read so much bad stuff about the HS10 I began to think I had made a mistake. Today I had an opportunity to photograph some birds of prey. The light was terrible, one minute sunny the next overcast and the birds did not behave. All shots handheld and at various zooms.

All the shots below are straight out of the camera, some could do with cropping and some unwanted objects cloning out, but my confidence in the camera has been renewed. Poor image quality? Take a look.... If you want to see the whole set they are on my Photostream on Flickr, search for Cornwall David 2.

Yep! These are just awful! No clarity, no detail, color smearing all over the place... need I go on? <==== Read with all the sarcasm you can muster.

Yep honestly no PP. I was very pleased when I saw them on the computer. I am also getting significantly longer battery life than the recent review. I still HATE that EVF though, it is way too tiny!!!! (or perhaps I have abnormally large eyes LOL)

Most of the bridge cameras are fairly the same (within a couple of mm). The battery issue on mine seems to have resolved itself... go figger!
